Last night, in our interior, windowless, stateroom, we went to bed around 12:20 a.m. And when I woke up, I did so in complete darkness; you know, no windows and all.
I looked at the clock, and it read 12:24. But there was no way I'd only been asleep for 4 minutes. And that's when I saw the little "P" next to 12:24. And shortly after, dawned the "Holy crap, we've been asleep for 12 hours! Our day is half gone!" feeling.
Evidently, we needed the rest.
After rising from our half-sleep, we walked out into the balmy weather the Caribbean Sea so kindly offers -- along with a freshly-grilled burger from the poolside grill. Oh and gale-force winds. Seriously, the Captain's channel on the stateroom television actually said "Gale Force 8."
And gale force winds mean bigger waves which mean pool water that doesn't like to stay in the confines of the pool... as seen below.
We skipped the first formal dining night (there are 3 on this trip) and opted instead for a more casual venue at Horizon Court. So no cuisine photos to brag about this day...
We capped off the night seeing Dan Horn -- a comedic ventriloquist, the Champagne Waterfall, and finally a showing of "An Education" -- a movie, with the screenplay written by one of my favorite authors, Nick Hornby. He also wrote the novels that were the base for movies like "High Fidelity," "Fever Pitch," and "About a Boy." This movie was a bit different from his other projects, but still well done.
Seeing we slept for half the day, we only spent around an hour or so out by the pool -- reading and napping. But in those 60 minutes, Emma managed to burn herself to a crisp -- on one of the first days at sea. Realllll nice.
Hopefully, this $11 bottle of aloe vera will do the trick...
